Frantoio Pace's PGI Olio Lucano won a Special Mention at the Olivarum Competition for the best extra virgin olive oil produced and bottled in Basilicata in the 2020/2021 crop year.
Eighteen oils were rated as excellent by the Tasting Committee and the Regional Panel. Six oils were awarded during the awards ceremony held on Sunday, March 28th in the courtyard of the Masseria Parco dei Monaci, owned by the Archaeological Historical Natural Park of the Rupestrian Churches of Matera.

In this edition, for the first time , a Special Mention was awarded for the Best Lucanian Oil with the PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) label , which was assigned to Aurum , the Lucanian PGI oil, organic, pitted, single-cultivar.
The competition, now in its 17th edition, is organized by the Department of Agricultural and Forestry Policies of the Basilicata Region and by Alsia.
The aim of the Award is to promote the improvement and culture of the quality of Lucanian extra virgin olive oil , its valorization, marketing and consumption on the markets.
The Olivarum Regional Award fits into this framework, aiming to support the various stages of the supply chain, which in Basilicata must become increasingly specialized.
