The Pace family inaugurates the new mill in San Nicola di Pietragalla (Via Austria 1), reaffirming its bond with the land. This is a historic moment for a company that has always lived in and respected its territory. Frantoio Oleario Pace has always positioned itself as an innovative business well embedded in the local production landscape, and in 2021 it wanted to celebrate its achievements with this major new development.
The company's management, which has been family-run since the 1970s, knew how to seize a precious moment for Basilicata's olive-growing sector: in October 2020, when Lucanian oil obtained the IGP designation. This presented a unique opportunity for growth, especially for a business like Frantoio Oleario Pace, which has always stood out for its commitment to the land and to quality, being the first to obtain the Olio IGP designation for its products.
The same was true for Frantoio Oleario Pace: the need arose to expand production and make it even more effective, and so the idea for the new facility was born. A new mill capable of meeting the highest quality standards in creating the final product.
For this new stage, the Pace family chose to invest once again in the land that saw it grow. Indeed, the site for the new facility was identified in the town of Pietragalla, a place to which the company is historically bound,.
Pietragalla: The History of Frantoio Oleario Pace
In the 1980s, it was Vincenzo Pace who built the family's first olive mill. After a decade of activity, his business was working well, his oil was becoming increasingly successful: it was time to open his own facility.
He chose to bring the processing of his olives, grown in Avigliano, to the town of Pietragalla.
This first mill became not only a means of production, but also a symbol. It was opened to visitors to guide consumers through the discovery of the world of oil production.Over time, the facility went through many transformations to innovate and improve product quality. In recent years, it was renovated to create an innovative facility with three production lines: the traditional millstones and crusher were joined by the pitting machine, which gave rise to a superior-quality oil obtained by crushing only the olive pulp.
Vincenzo Pace's choice proved to be a winning one: it created an unbreakable bond between Frantoio Oleario Pace and Pietragalla, which still characterises the company today.
A New Mill, Looking to the Future
Frantoio Oleario Pace always looks to the future. It is the ability to renew itself and keep up with the times that has guaranteed its success.
However, the heart of all the Pace family's activity remains the mill. This is where the magic happens and where this company's vocation for producing quality oil is fully expressed.
That's why the opening of a new facility is so significant: the place where olives are transformed into the product you bring to your table every day has fundamental value. This is why the company cares deeply about the present and future of its facilities: the mill born in the 1980s went through a long journey of expansion and improvement, and today the time has come to open a new one.
On 30 October 2021, with an open day of guided tours and product tastings, the new mill at Via Austria 1 in Pietragalla was officially born.
A step that represents a new chapter for Frantoio Oleario Pace, which looks to the future of its production and of the Lucanian land, while remaining bound to its history and tradition.
